Garwin man senteced to federal prison
Daniel Shawn Posey, 40, of Garwin, was sentenced to four years in federal prison after he struck his spouse.
Posey and the victim were staying in a hotel room at the Meskwaki Bingo Casino on April 5 when an argument began. When the victim attempted to call law enforcement, Posey took the cell phone and broke it.
Posey hit the victim’s right eye with a closed fist which became swollen and bruised.
In addition the four years in federal prison, he must serve a three-year supervised release after his term is up. Posey is in the custody of the United States Marshal’s department until he can be transported to federal prison.
He was sentenced by United States District Court Judge C.J. Williams.
