Bridge work continues

Concrete is poured for the deck on the first of four bridges on North Center Street. Bridge work is being done one at a time so that future access to the Iowa River Bridge from both sides can be accomplished. According to Marshall County Engineer Paul Geilenfeldt the first bridge deck is 150 feet long, 24 feet wide and 24 inches thick. It contains 400 cubic yards of concrete. Concrete pumpers are stationed at both ends of this pouring operation. Once adequately cured in several weeks time, approaches to the bridge will be made allowing the contractor to move some equipment to the river bridge.
