Marshalltown man sentenced for meth

Jose Ordaz, 27, of Marshalltown was sentenced to 70 months in a federal prison for conspiracy to distribute large amount of methamphetamine.

U.S. District Court Judge Linda R. Reade passed the sentence on Thursday in Cedar Falls. There is no parole in the federal system and he must serve a four-year term of supervised release after he finishes prison.

Ordaz is being held by United States Marshals until he is transported to federal prison.

He pleaded guilty on Aug. 26 in federal court to conspiracy to distribute at least 500 grams of meth. Ordaz admitted to becoming involved in methamphetamine distribution in December 2014 and since that time had been responsible for distributing at least eight pounds of meth.
