Man arrested for intent to deliver methamphetamine

Tanner Jo Halverson-Weese, 35, of Waterloo was arrested by local police and taken to jail Wednesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a Class B felony; failure to affix drug tax stamp, a Class D felony; possession of a firearm by a felon, a Class D felony; carrying weapons; and interference with official acts.

Halverson-Weese was the front seat passenger in a vehicle stopped by an officer for a traffic violation in the 400 block of West Boone St., Marshalltown Police of Chief Mike Tupper said.

Halverson-Weese was arrested at the stop for interference with official acts. The officer followed-up with a search warrant on the vehicle and located more than seven grams of a crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine in Halverson-Weese’s possession. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

At his initial appearance Friday, Halverson-Weese was appointed a public defender and ordered held on $25,000 cash only bond.

A Class B felony carries a maximum prison term not to exceed 25 years which may be deferred or suspended.

A Class D felony carries a maximum prison term not to exceed five years, which may be deferred or suspended.

A fine of a least $750 but no more than $7,500 may be imposed.
