Man charged with motor vehicle theft

Jesse Ceniceros, 34, Marshalltown was arrested by local police and taken to jail Sunday on charges of second degree theft and driving while barred. Capt. Brian Batterson of the Marshalltown Police Department said a vehicle was reported stolen earlier this month. Evidence and other information led police to Ceniceros.

At his initial appearance Monday, Ceniceros was ordered held on $5,000 cash-only bond.

Second degree theft is a class D felony and punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine not to exceed $7,500. In addition to the fine, there is a 35 percent surcharge and $100 court costs.
