Woman charged with identity theft
Margarita Bollas Morales, 53, of Marshalltown was arrested by Marshalltown police Thursday
on a charge of identity theft of more than $1,000 but less than $1,500.
She allegedly used the social security number of another individual to access services at a health care provider.
Morales was not taken to jail, but signed a summons agreeing to appear in court Jan. 31.
The charge is an aggravated misdemeanor which carries a maximum prison term not to exceed two years which may be a jail sentence if not more than one year.
She faces a mandatory fine of at least $500, but not more than $5,000.
