The Marshalltown Food and Gas Mart at 623 N. Third Ave. was victimized by an armed robbery shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday according to police.

The Marshalltown Police Department is investigating an armed robbery.

At 6:03 a.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to the Food and Gas Mart, 613 N. Third Ave., responding to reports of an armed robbery.

Store management called in when an unknown suspect with a firearm entered the business and demanded money.

The suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount. No one was injured and the public is not in danger.

Capt. Brian Batterson said police are examining surveillance video and will attempt to release a screenshot of the suspect in the immediate future.
