One additional case of COVID-19 in Marshall County

DES MOINES — Marshall County only had one additional case of COVID-19 during the last 24 hours. 

As of Saturday, Marshall County has 702 cases of COVID-19, a rise of one case. The case was either a staff or resident at the Iowa Veterans Home. 

Marshall County has two recorded outbreaks in long-term care facilities. The Iowa Veterans Home has had 29 positive cases of COVID-19 and Accura HealthCare of Marshalltown has had 12 cases.

Marshall County remains in the top five of Iowa counties with the highest number of COVID-19 cases. The other counties with higher numbers are Polk with 2,194; Woodbury, 1,554; Black Hawk, 1,477; and Linn, 819.

Overall Iowa had an increase of 214 on Saturday bringing the state’s total number of cases to 11,671. 

Of those, 5,011 have recovered. There are 407 Iowans hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those, 164 are in intensive care units and 109 are on ventilators.

Also, 252 Iowans have died from COVID-19. Three of those deaths were residents of Marshall County.

In Iowa 71,476 people have been tested for COVID-19 with at least 2 percent of Iowa’s population having been tested.
