Winter weather advisory remains until 6 p.m.

Marshall County residents should continue exercising caution when out and about on Friday, as the winter weather will continue until 6 p.m .

As the western half of Iowa gets pummeled by a blizzard, the western half will get up to 2 inches of snow.

Travelers can expect slippery road conditions and the evening commute will be impacted. Please slow down and use caution. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 511.

As a result of the hazardous conditions, Marshalltown Community School District cancelled class and activities on Friday. Other districts that cancelled were East Marshall, GMG, BCLUW and West Marshall.

The Salvation Army in Marshalltown has a two-hour late start and will open at 11 a.m. Friday.

The House of Compassion will hand out the evening meal from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
