Marshalltown man arrested, charged with burglary

Joseph Witte, 33, of Marshalltown was arrested on Tuesday and charged with burglary, among multiple other offenses.

After a burglary and theft report was filed with the Marshalltown Police Department on Feb. 21, an investigation took place. A search warrant was executed in Marshalltown on Tuesday. Many stolen items were recovered during the search, which included items reported on Feb. 21. Narcotic related items were also seized. Witte was transported to the Marshall County Jail

He is charged with:

• Second-degree burglary

• First-degree theft

• Second-degree theft

• Possession schedule I

• Possession schedule II

• Possession of drug paraphernalia

• Driving while barred

Second-degree burglary and first-degree theft are Class “C” felonies and are punishable by confinement for no more than 10 years and a fine of at least $1,000 but not more than $10,000.

Second-degree theft and the possession charges are class “D” felonies. They carry a sentence of confinement for no more than five years and a fine of at least $750 but not more than $7,500.
