The Friends of the Orpheum Theater (FOOT) Board has released the lineup for the Summer Live After Five Concert series.

FOOT Board president Robert Moore said, “It was disappointing that we couldn’t hold the concerts last summer due to the Pandemic, but we are very pleased to present a great outdoor lineup for summer, 2021.”

The concerts will be held in the parking lot east of the Orpheum Theater, 220 East Main. Bands will begin playing shortly after 5 p.m., so concertgoers are encouraged to arrive early to find a good listening spot. Attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs for comfort.

Here is the summer lineup:

• July 2, Red Dirt Renegade with Mike Bernard opening

• July 9, The Awful Purdies

• July 16, B2Wins

• July 23, Inner Lite

• July 30, Orquestra Alto Maiz

• Aug. 6, Exit 185

• Aug. 13, The Day Drinkers

FOOT Board members will be on hand to sell wine, beer and water, and as a special treat this year, the Flying Elbow restaurant will have its food truck on-site with a food menu.

“We are excited to be involved with the return of live entertainment in Marshalltown,” said Garrett Goodman, co-owner of The Flying Elbow with his wife Dani. “We are big fans of Live After Five, and we consider this a wonderful opportunity to showcase our business alongside the band concerts.”

The Marshalltown Coliseum will be the backup site in case of stormy weather.

“We are pleased to be able to partner with the Orpheum Theater to bring these band concerts to town as a backup in bad weather,” Coliseum Director Geoff Hubbard said. “We want to reach out to Marshalltown and the surrounding community whenever we can to share our wonderful facility.”

Concertgoers are encouraged to use their best judgement regarding masking and social distancing.
