Excessive and dangerous heat is expected for Marshalltown Wednesday, as the National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch which covers all of central Iowa.

The temperatures on Wednesday are predicted to range from 105 degrees to 110.

Fortunately, a cold front is also expected to enter the area on Thursday and provide some relief for central Iowa, but the southern portion of the state will still be overheated.

The Des Moines National Weather Service is advising everyone to limit outdoor activity. Also:

• Drink plenty of water

• Avoid alcohol

• Wear light clothing

• Wear sunscreen

• Work outdoors in the early morning hours or late at night.
