Excessive and dangerous heat is expected for Marshalltown Tuesday through Wednesday, as the National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch which covers all of central Iowa.

Tuesday temperatures are expected to range from 100 degrees to 105 degrees. The temperatures on Wednesday are predicted to rise further, ranging from 105 degrees to 110.

Fortunately, a cold front is also expected to enter the area on Thursday.

The Des Moines National Weather Service is advising everyone to limit outdoor activity. Also:

• Drink plenty of water

• Avoid alcohol

• Wear light clothing

• Wear sunscreen

• Work outdoors in the early morning hours or late at night.
