Overturned semi delays traffic on 330

A single vehicle accident delayed traffic on Highway 330 near Albion on Tuesday afternoon.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) and the Iowa State Patrol (ISP) responded to a report of an overturned semi trailer on Highway 330 south of Albion on Tuesday afternoon at around 1:30 p.m.

It was initially reported that the trailer was loaded with pigs, and some had gotten loose on the highway and in the road ditch. Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene to find a semi tractor and livestock trailer on its side in the north ditch near a curve in the roadway.

An initial investigation found that the tractor trailer was driving northbound and lost control at a curve in the road. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The owner of the truck made arrangements for another trailer and personnel to come to the scene to load the loose pigs and unload the damaged trailer. The driver, who has not been identified, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic was rerouted to a single lane after the incident and closed for a short time while heavy wrecker equipment was used to upright the tractor trailer. The roadway was fully reopened just after 4 p.m.

The ISP is investigating the crash. The MCSO was assisted at the scene by Albion Fire and EMS, Dave’s Crane and Wrecker, Iowa DOT Maintenance, Iowa DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Iowa State Patrol, Liscomb EMS, and Marshall County Emergency Management.
