Man involved in hit and run accident arrested
Marshalltown man Jose Eduardo Victor, 31 has been arrested for his alleged role in a hit and run accident at the intersection of Fifth and Main streets on Monday morning.
According to a news release from the Marshalltown Police Department (MPD), Victor was apprehended at 3:33 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon and taken to the Marshall County Jail. The crash on Monday involved a blue 2005 Chrysler 300 — which Victor was believed to be driving — and a red 2001 Chevrolet Silverado truck.
After MPD officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Victor drove away, hit the truck at the intersection of Fifth and Main Street and continued for another block before crashing into the front yard of a home near Fifth and State Street. From there, he exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
After a two-day manhunt, Victor has been arrested and charged with eluding, reckless driving, failure to obey a stop sign, failure to yield the right of way, failure to provide proof of insurance, speeding and operating a vehicle without registration.
