GMG shop classes construct shed, spread kindness

PHOTO COURTESY OF TAMA COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY — GMG shop students work to construct a storage shed for the Tama County Humane Society this past fall.

Students in GMG Secondary teacher Matt Boerm’s 2022-2023 industrial technology classes recently completed a very special project – a storage shed for the Tama County Humane Society. The blue shed was completed just prior to the start of winter with the help of several area businesses. According to a post on the Tama County Humane Society’s Facebook page, Ace Hardware supplied screws, Hrabak Lumber supplied wood, Posusta Construction supplied sheet metal, Wilkerson Hardware supplied various hardware, and Mr. Boerm – in addition to teaching the students how to build the shed – supplied wood pallets. The shelter is located at 1406 East Fifth Street in Tama with the new blue shed located just beside it.
