Funeral services for James Horn, 79, of Marshalltown, Iowa were held on Friday, April 17, 2015, with Pastor Loren Strait officiating. Mr. Horn was laid to rest in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
Groups in attendance were Marshalltown Men’s Bowling Association, Snow Birds Winter Friends, Elks Lodge #312, Villager Co-Op, Fisher Controls, along with friends and family.

James Horn, 79, of Marshalltown Iowa, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Villa Del Sol Nursing and Rehab Center. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17th, 2015, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior for friends and family at the funeral home. James Dean Horn was born on November 10th, 1935, in Moulton, Iowa. He was the son of Glenn E. Horn and Erma L. (Beach) Horn. He was educated at Marshalltown Community High School district, graduating with the class of 1954. James received further education at Marshalltown Community College and graduated in 1956. On January 28th, 1956, James and Mary Anne Sellers were married in Carroll, Iowa. Together they raised their children; Allen James and Michael Timm in Marshalltown before their divorce in 2014. He worked for Mueller Construction, International Harvester and eventually Kapaun and Brown where he retired.
James loved baseball, specifically the St. Louis Cardinals, Bowling, playing Cribbage, Square Dancing and coaching little league. He was a lifetime member of the Marshalltown Men’s Bowling Association, Elks Lodge #312 and the Central Iowa Squares.
Left to honor his memory are his ex-wife, Mary Anne, of Marshalltown, Iowa, children; Allen James (Joyce) Horn, of Hewitt, Texas, and Michael Timm (Deborah) Horn, of Mission, Texas. His Grandchildren; Jill, Jenna, of San Antonio Texas, and Emma, of Hewitt, Texas. Great-Grandchildren; Jaidon, of San Antonio, Texas. His brother, Jerry (Mary) Horn, of Chadron, Nebraska.
In death he rejoins his parents, Glenn and Erma Horn. His sister-in-law Cathy Horn and his grandparents.
