Funeral services for Floyd Aswegan, 94, formerly of Union, IA, were held Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Union Community Church with Pastor Rick Schill officiating. He was laid to rest in East Lawn Memory Gardens in Eldora, IA.

Pallbearers were Mike Mitchem, David Lyman, Troy Wilson, Mark Bagenstos, Rodney Lyman, Jeffrey Lyman, Trent Lyman and Clint Bagenstos.

Honorary Pallbearers were Pamela Muench, Tammy Morrison, Jamie Wilson and Brenda Crawford.

Groups attending represented Union Community Church, Grandview Heights, Iowa River Hospice, UAW Retirees and Fellowship Baptist Church.

Floyd Aswegan, 94, of Grandview Heights Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of Union, Iowa passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Union Community Church in Union, Iowa. Visitation will be on Monday, October 5, 2015, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Please dress casual in honor of Floyd. Floyd Aswegan was born on May 8, 1921, in North Dakota; he was the son of Lewis and Olga (Piper) Aswegan, after the family moved to Iowa he attended school in the Parkersburg Community School District. On October 24, 1939, Floyd was united in marriage to Hilda Siefken in Reinbeck, Iowa; they had lived in Reinbeck, Grundy Center and in Union, Iowa from 1952, until moving to Grandview Heights Nursing Home. Floyd and Hilda had farmed working side by side and Floyd also worked and retired from Fisher control after 17 years of service. Floyd was a member of the Local UAW#893. He loved to fish, enjoyed woodworking but nothing compared to his love for his family, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Donna (Fred) Mitchem, of Marshalltown, Iowa, Alice (Richard) Lyman, of Tama, Iowa, Judith (Doug) Bagenstos, of Oelwein, Iowa, and Jane (Ronald) Puls, of Malcomb, Iowa; and his grandchildren: Mike (Darlene) Mitchem, Pamela (Craig) Muench, Jeffrey (Joni) Lyman, David (Stacey) Lyman, Rodney (Donna) Lyman, Trent Lyman, Mark (Jeanne) Bagenstos, Clint (Jenny) Bagenstos, Tammy (Chris) Morrison, Troy (Linda) Wilson, Jamie Wilson and Brenda (Bruce) Crawford; 34 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 more on the way.

In death Floyd rejoins his parents, Lewis and Olga; wife, Hilda (2012); 3 brothers Albert, Glen and LeRoy; granddaughter, Tina Wilson, and great-great-grandson, Matthew Crawford.
