Beth L. Tigges, 95, of Melbourne, IA, and a resident of Glenwood Place, in Marshalltown, IA passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the Iowa River Hospice Home, in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2017, at Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 W. Main St., Marshalltown. Private family committal services will proceed the funeral. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017, at First Congregational Church of Christ, in Marshalltown. Beth was born December 11, 1921, to Frederick and Matilda (Koppin) Schnathorst, in Jasper County, IA. She graduated from Laurel High School, in 1940. Beth was united in marriage to John E. Tigges on June 8, 1940, at the Little Brown Church, in Nashua, IA. She was employed with Melbourne Savings Bank in her early married years. Beth was employed with Lennox for 22 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the former VanCleve Congregational United Church of Christ. Beth was a current member of the First Congregational Church of Christ, in Marshalltown. She was a 50-year member of Eastern Star, member of Lincoln Valley Golf Club, the 50 plus club, Wednesday morning coffee in Laurel and the Saturday morning coffee in Melbourne. Beth enjoyed golf and playing cards. She loved to visit people in the nursing homes and did so into her 90’s.
Beth will be missed by her children: Jerry Tigges, of Melbourne, Sue Fox, of Mahtomedi, MN, Barb Dietz, of Chandler, AZ, two grandchildren: Dean (Tammy) Fox, Jill (Michael Jacobson) Fox; five great grandchildren: Mattie Fox, Ella Fox, John Fox, Peter Jacobson, Grace Jacobson, and her former son in law, Ron Fox.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and four brothers; Lewis, Frederick, Ralph, and Gerald Schnathorst.
