John R. Rude, Jr., 89

John Randolph Rude, Jr. passed away from natural causes on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown. Services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Marshalltown at 1:00 on Friday February 10th.

He was born on May 16th, 1927 to John Randolph Rude and Rena Meek Rude in Marshalltown, Iowa. John served in the US Army and was stationed in Europe during the end of WW II. After attending the University of Iowa, John owned and operated several businesses including Central Iowa Storage and Moving Company. Throughout his life he was involved in community and political affairs as well as many civic organizations. John lived a full life, remarkable for his love of people and adventure.

He is survived by his four children, Annie Rude of Calmar, IA, Renee Ellerbroek (Christopher) of Des Moines, IA, Martha Galecki (Michael) of Collins, IA and Joseph Rude of Nevada, IA, as well as grandchildren Nathan Eason, Anna Ruth Eason Holzer (Jesse), Charles Ellerbroek, Rebecca Ellerbroek, Joseph Ellerbroek, Olga Galecki Morton (Dillon), Nadezhda Galecki, Christina Galecki, Samuel Rude, Henry Rude and Eleanor Rude, one great grandchild, Genevieve Galecki, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters (Helen Waters, Janet Watson and Caroline Rude).
