Sandra “Sandy” Dannen, 67

Sandra “Sandy” Dannen, 67, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, March 31, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa with her beloved Jerry by her side.

Funeral services for Sandy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor John McDonald officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Sandra’s name to her family. The family has requested casual dress. Sandra Williams was born on December 18, 1949, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Russell and Estella Novella (Wirth) Williams. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Frank. Sandy was educated in the Marshalltown School District, graduating with the class of 1968 from Marshalltown High School. Following high school, Sandy went on to Beauty School where she obtained her beauty license.

Sandy started her career in Marshalltown where she worked in several beauty salons. Her path led her from Marshalltown to Chariton, Beaman, Marquette, MI, Hackensack, MN, back to Chariton before finally coming home to settle in Marshalltown the whole while taking the tools of her trade with her and setting up shop in new places and meeting new people. Sandy always told Jerry she wanted to travel but she didn’t mean pulling a U-Haul. She was always game to share a new adventure with Jerry even if it meant packing up and moving. At the time of her passing she worked at Little Ceasars in Marshalltown.

On June 28, 1984, Sandy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jerry Dannen, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She remained a proud member of the American Legion in Hackensack, MN. Sandy enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her family and friends as well as her dog, Cash.

Left to cherish Sandy’s memory is her husband, Jerry Dannen; children: Tammy Weese, of Gladbrook, Troy (Amy) Dannen, of New Orleans, LA, and her four legged fur baby, Cash; Grandchildren: Katy and Colton Weese; Emily, Holly, Elle and William Dannen; Siblings: Bob (Barb) Williams, Jean Howe, Jerry (Willie) Williams, Janet Williams, Rick (Anna) Williams, Kenneth Williams, Donald (Nora) Williams and sister-in-law, Zelda Vry as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister: Marge; infant daughter: Heather Thomas; In-laws: Donald and Margaret Dannen; brother in law Curtis Howe as well as her step-father Frank.
