Jean was born September 7, 1935, in Seneca, Iowa, the daughter of George and Lena (Rike) Wolf. She was raised and attended St. John’s Catholic School in Bancroft. Jean was united in marriage to Duane C. Smith in 1954, and they were blessed with three sons, Allan, Michael and Kelly. Duane worked construction which led to them moving often before settling in Marshalltown. Jean held numerous jobs, but most of all she was a devoted wife and mother to her three sons.

Jean enjoyed watching many sporting activates, from NASCAR, to her grandchildren playing soccer. She recently celebrated her favorite team, the Cubs, win the World Series. Jean also liked to crochet and knit in her spare time along with baking goodies from one of her many recipe books. She was on a bowling league and card club, Jean also was a cub scout den mother for some time. Jean treasured spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.

Jean will be missed by her three sons: Allan (Kim) Smith of Marshalltown, Michael (Jane) Smith of Ankeny and Kelly (Cindy) Smith of rural Marshalltown; grandchildren: Tyler, Korey and Logan (Paige) Smith, Cody (Natalie) and Kelsey Smith and Jason (Danni) and Jacob (Jen) Young; 6 great grandchildren; brother, George “Sonny” (Janice) Wolf and her sister Elaine Bonetto. Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Duane; grandson, Connor Smith and 5 siblings.
