Robert “Bob” C. Ehrhardt, 85

Robert “Bob” C. Ehrhardt, 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Iowa River Hospice Home with his loving family by his side.

Memorial services for Bob will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Greg Bahl officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, where his family will be present to greet friends. Memorial contributions may be directed in Bob’s name to Sisters of Humility in Davenport, IA and/or, Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, IA. Robert Charles Ehrhardt was born on February 3, 1932 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Merle and Emma (Dvorak) Ehrhardt. He graduated from St. Mary’s School. Following his graduation, Bob went on to join the United States Navy. He honorably served his Country during the Korean War, where he was stationed at the U.S.S. Suisun. Bob also served at the AEC in Albuquerque for the last three years of his time in the service.

On June 10, 1953, Bob was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marjorie Bates, at Our Lady of Guadeloupe in Bakersfield, CA. In 1956, when Bob came home from the war, he began working at the family business. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob enjoyed golfing, camping, crawdad fishing and the Iowa State Cyclones.

Left to cherish Bob’s memory is his wife: Marjorie; children: Kathy (Jim) Meyer of Plano, TX, Myina (Rick) Ulery of North Platte, NB, Corleen (Chris) Calkins of Marshalltown, IA, Karl (Deb) Ehrhardt of Green Mountain, IA, Ginger Carroll of Muscatine, IA and Skip (Mette) Ehrhardt of Iowa Falls, IA; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one sibling: Sister Mariam Thomas (Myrna) of Davenport, Iowa.
