Roger Charles Gienger

Roger Charles Gienger, 77, of Beaman, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4th, 2017, under the care of Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown with his loving family by his side.

The family will be hosting a “Celebration of His Life” at the Beaman Memorial Hall, Main Street, Beaman, on Saturday, October 14th, starting at 10:00AM. Please dress in casual attire.

Roger Charles Gienger was born on March 13th, 1940, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Ernest and Twila (Hale) Gienger. He was raised on several farmsteads in rural Grundy and Marshall counties. He received his education in the Conrad School system, graduating with the class of 1958, the last Conrad class before consolidating with the Beaman High School.

Roger was united in marriage to Janet Wilson, of Marshalltown, in 1962. To this union were born two sons; Tracy and Todd. Early in their marriage they lived in Marshalltown, moving to an acreage in the town of Beaman in 1970, where they have resided since.

Roger’s work career included employment at Acme Brass, Brammer Electric, ACI Inc. and Hunt Electric, all of Marshalltown. At various times in his life he worked in Conrad for R&S Electric, Ritchie Industries and Tenneco (now known as PCI). During the middle 1970’s Roger opened his own electrical business, Gienger Electric, later adding a small engine repair business, J & R Engine Repair.

Roger is survived by his wife, Janet, and their two sons: Tracy (Sue), of Newton, Iowa; Todd, of Beaman, Iowa. 4 grandchildren: Shaun, Geoffrey, Derrek and “grandson-of-the-heart,” Ryan Hegdahl. Also surviving is Roger’s sister, Cathy (Don) Weatherly, of Beaman, as well as numerous cousins, along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Roger in death are his parents, Ernest & Twila Gienger.
