Frances Mae (Hill) Wogan, 101

Frances Mae (Hill) Wogan, 101, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018, at Montesano, Washington, where she has been living with her son Darrell since February, 2015. Mae was born to Hiram Tom Hill and Edna Elizabeth (Levis) Hill on October 25, 1916, in Tama, Iowa. Mae was raised on farms in the Tama County area. Mae married Verl Vinton Wogan on November 22, 1934, in Marshalltown, Iowa. They farmed in Tama County and finally they moved to Green Mountain, Iowa, where she worked on the farm until 1975 when Verl and Mae moved to Marshalltown, Iowa. Mae also worked as a nurse’s aide at the Marshalltown Hospital, and also did volunteer work at the hospital until the age of 95. Mae was also a longtime member of the Gladbrook Chapel United Methodist Church, and the Ladies LCA. More recently she was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Mae was a very remarkable woman. She was a very loving and caring woman. Family was very important to her. She looked forward to the family picnics every year. That was when she was able to see a lot of the family. She set a wonderful example for her family. She will live on in our hearts forever.

Mae is survived by two sons: Darrell (Evelyn) Wogan, of Montesano, WA., Darwin (Shiela) Wogan, of Anacortes, WA., and daughter Cheryl (Jack) Freet, of Gilman, IA. Eight grandchildren: Darrell Jr., Karmen, Christine, Karen, Debra, David, Darla and Angel. Fifteen greatgrandchildren and six step- greatgrandchildren, eleven great-greatgrandchildren and eleven step-great-greatgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mae was proceeded in death by her father Hiram in 1974, her mother Edna and her husband Verl in 1977; son Bobby; two sisters and brothers-in-laws Zanaide (Homer) Davis, Agnes (Pete) Goodhart, one brother and sister-in-law Ralph (AlDora) Hill.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home at 10:30, visitation will be held on Friday January 26, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home at 5 – 7:00 p.m. for condolences please visit www.Mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234.
