A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd Street NE, Mason City, with Reverend Steve Schulz officiating. Inurnment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, at a later date.

A visitation will be held 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family and a charity will be established at a later date.

Rick is survived by his wife, Sondra Benson, of Mason City; children: Jarrod (Angela Carpenter) Benson, of Mason City, Amy (John) Patterson, of Boone, Josh (Sadie) Evenson, of Norwalk; seven grandchildren; mother, Dorothy; stepmother, Dee; two sisters: Kathy Edwards and Becky (Terry) Angle; two brothers: Mike (Liz) Benson and Joe (Darwin) Mcquown-Hovey; sister-in-law, Rhonda (Tom) Heintzelman; special nieces, nephews and extended family members.
