Thomas Snider, 82, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Southridge Specialty Care in Marshalltown. Private services will be held. Thomas Leroy Snider was born on November 27, 1935, in Marshalltown, IA, to Elmer and Inga (Rierson) Snider. After graduating from Green Mountain High School, Tom joined the Marines and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was the proud definition of “once a Marine, always a Marine.” In October of 1968, Thomas was united in marriage to Nadine Hunt. He spent most of his career as a car salesman for Jensen Ford in Marshalltown and George White Chevrolet in Ames, IA. Tom was even featured in a 1974 Time’s Magazine article about prominent car salesmen. He was a member of several local Veteran’s Associations, such as the American Legion. Tom enjoyed spending time playing cards at the Senior Citizen’s Center, fishing and watching football. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff and administration at Southridge for their passionate care.

Tom is survived by his children: Steve Snider, of Davenport, IA, Penny Snider, of Kansas; three close nieces and nephews that were near and dear to him: Rick (Jill) Snider, of Marshalltown, Tim (Connie) Snider, of Green Mountain, IA, Pam (Kip) Brown, of Gladbrook, IA; a stepdaughter, Linda (Tom) Shollenbarger, of Marshalltown; a stepson, Gary Hunt, of Cedar Rapids; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Eubanks, of Oklahoma, and Jean Aman, of Marshalltown; and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nadine; a daughter in infancy, Sheryl; three brothers, Larry, Don and Richard; and a great niece, Heather Snider.
