Evert Eugene Lattin, 87, of Gladbrook, IA, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Southridge Specialty Care in Marshalltown, IA. Cremation rites were accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date. At the family’s request, memorial donations may be directed to the Gladbrook-Lincoln Ambulance Service, Gladbrook United Methodist Women and Iowa River Hospice of Marshalltown. Evert was born on December 7, 1930, in Topeka, KS. He graduated from Argentine High School in Kansas City, KS, in 1948. Evert was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Norma Gish, on January 20, 1951, in Kansas City. They were blessed with a daughter. Evert worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for a few years before beginning a lifelong career with IBM, from which he retired in 1988. He was a member of the Gladbrook United Methodist Church and kept in touch with the IBM Retirees in Kansas City. Evert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and he enjoyed being with his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandsons, whom he adored.
Evert will be dearly missed by his wife, Norma; a daughter, Debra (Phil) Koester, of Gladbrook, and two grandsons, Kevin Koester, of Topeka, and Kyle Koester, of Gladbrook. He is also survived by a brother and a sister.
Evert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma Lattin.
