He leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Mary Jo (Dell) Christy, and three daughters Vicky (Christy) and Edzard van Santen, Lori Christy and Trudy (Christy) and James McKinnell; six grandchildren and four great-grandsons.

A January 29 memorial service was held in, Salem, Oregon, where he and his wife were currently living.
