Born Sharon Brees on June 8th, 1948, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Paul E. Brees Sr. and Minnie L. (Braye). Minnie later became Minnie Patrick. Sharon was in the first graduating class in the new MHS Roundhouse.

A strong work ethic was a part of her life beginning at the A & W in Marshalltown, Walgreens in the mall, did custodial work at the Marshall County Care Facility and later Iowa Veterans Home and then assisted her husband with Newberg Construction and also Newberg Upholstery. In retirement, she continued to give of herself with time and food at the AMVETS in Lincoln and the Salem Church. She enjoyed coloring, gardening (especially spring flowers) trips with Ray in the semi and the latest trip to Minnesota with family. She led an adventurous life not afraid to see the world and was devoted to her family.

Sharon was blessed with four gentlemen in her life- Larry Robert Zednichek whom she married in 1968 and had two children, later James White in 1979 and then Merlyn Newberg. After Merlyn’s passing, she was the special companion committed in life to Ray Boulicault.

Left to mourn her loss are her children: Tracey (David) Berendes, of Gladbrook, and Clayton (Andrea) Zednichek, of Princeton, MN., grandchildren: Amber, Marissa and Haleigh Berendes; her mother Minnie Patrick, of the Sunnyhill Care Center in Traer; her brother Paul Brees, Jr., of Grinnell; her life companion Ray Boulicault and his daughter Brenda (Doug) White and son Eric; her family from Merlyn: Marilyn Jean Newberg, Marsha (Albert) Johns, Todd (Melinda) Moats, Kirk (Patty) Moats, Mary (Lowell) Newberg Osborne, Michael (Kellie) Newberg, Kim (Emilio) Zapata and Mark (Lori) Newberg; his grandchildren: Adin, Alli and Appria Newberg; Chelsea and Kari Newberg; Jennifer and Jessica Flotho; Brandy, Shane and Amanda Johns; Laci Newberg; Derrick and Lindsi Moats; Donovan and Alexis Moats; Ashley and Abbie Pruitt, Sara and Selena Zapata; Keith Simmons, Vincent Buchanan and many of Merlyn’s great-grandchildren and friends. Also surviving is her half-brother, Bill Brees.

In death, she rejoined her father; husband Merlyn and half-brother Richard Braye.
