Robert D. Stewart, 96, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at State Center Specialty Care in State Center, IA. A Celebration of Life will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown. Robert was born October 23, 1921, to George and Calverta (Jay) Stewart in Jasper County, IA. Robert was united in marriage to Ruth Olsen in September, 1944, in Laughton, OK. Ruth passed away in 2009. Robert was a Captain in the Army during World War II. He was a self-employed contractor and President of R.D. Stewart, Inc. for 50 years, retiring in 2005. Robert was a member of the Central Christian Church, President of Chamber of Commerce, Brenton Bank board member, Elks and American Legion.
Robert is survived by his children: Dennis Stewart, of Marshalltown, Dale (Carol) Stewart, of Bend, OR; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; two brothers and one sister.
