Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Frieda Mary Austin was born on January 1, 1920, in Arispe, Iowa; she was the daughter of Robert B. and Mattie (Wilson) Austin. She attended school in many schools before she attended and graduated from Winterset School at the age of 16. On May 10, 1940, Frieda was united in marriage as they eloped to Albany, Missouri, after they were married; they had lived in Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri and finally settled in State Center in 2008. While living in Omaha she worked at Brandeis Department Stores. In church Freida love to sing in the choir and play the organ, she was also a talented artist.

Left to cherish Frieda’s memory are her son, Don Dodd of Marshalltown, grandchildren, Debbie Dodd of Marshalltown, Dianne(Ryan) Rundall of Marshalltown, Joe Dodd of Marshalltown, Andrew ( Jennifer) Dodd of Standish, Maine and Denise Wood of Litchfield, Minnesota, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

In death Frieda rejoins her parents, Robert and Mattie Austin, husband, Joe Dodd and son, Dennis Dodd, her siblings, Robert Austin, Leonard Austin, Forrest Austin, Ivan Austin, Eunice(Harper) Austin, Betty Austin and Jerry Austin.
