Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Shirley and her family. Shirley was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on September 5, 1950. She graduated from Central High School in 1968. In 1972, she married Gary Paxton and to that union, two Daughters were born. Shirley was a very dedicated employee to any and all of her employers, most recently retiring from the State Training School in Eldora Iowa after 25 years. Retirement didn’t fit into her active lifestyle, so she began working as a greeter at Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls Iowa.

When Shirley wasn’t working, she could be found in her swimming pool working on her tan, tending to her yard, enjoying car races or spending time with her Granddaughters and Great Grandson which she enjoyed every minute of. Shirley loved to travel and took several fun trips with her Daughters and special friends. No matter where Shirley was, she could always find her way to the nearest casino. All who knew Shirley admired her strength and determination to never let anything in life slow her down.

Shirley will be deeply missed by her Daughters: Kimberly Paxton (Joseph Corns) of Gifford Iowa and Dina (Ross) Wiebensohn of Reinbeck Iowa; Granddaughters: Brittney Spear, Hayley McCord and Great-Grandson: Gavin; Brothers: Roger (Sandy) Glenn of Dorchester Nebraska and Rick (Joyce) Glenn of St. Joseph Missouri; Sisters: Pam (Chip) Brock, Rita (Larry) Hook and Stephanie Murphy all of St. Joseph Missouri. Along with her extended family and countless friends, Shirley will be missed by her furry companion Gizmo.

Shirley is preceded in death by her Parents, Yvette and Lewis Randolph and Joseph Carroll Glenn. Shirley held a very special place in her heart for the many other friends and family that have passed before her.
