Funeral services for Laurel Eugene Phipps, 97, of Marshalltown, were held on August 2, 2018 at St. Henry Catholic Church where Father Don Czapla officiated the service. Special music was performed by Marilyn Spafford and Carrie Seberger. Pallbearers were Doug Oatman, Doug Niccum, Todd Ewart, Scott Svenningsen, Jack Svenningsen, Jeff Miller, Aaron Miller, and Mike Phipps. Honorary Pallbearer was Joe Zincke. He was laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the Combined VFW/American Legion Honor Guard from the surrounding area. Groups in attendance included VFW Post #839, UAW Retirees, Iowa River Hospice, Marshall County Veteran Affairs, American Legion, and the Marshalltown Honor Guard. Mitchell Family Funeral Home was entrusted with the care of Laurel and his family.
