Joan was born July 12, 1941 to Reuben M. and Gertrude M. (Ottilie) Wood in Ida Grove, IA. She graduated from Spencer High School in Spencer, IA. Joan attended CE School of Commerce in Omaha, NE. She was united in marriage to Gerald F. Peters at the United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, IA on February 8, 1968. Joan was a homemaker and engaged in farming along with her husband in the rural Conrad area. She especially liked running the combine bringing in the corn and bean crop. Joan liked to do puzzles, making cards, doing word find books and Sudoku. She also liked to go camping, fishing, and reading books. The love of her life was being with her grandsons and watching them grow into young adults.

Joan will be missed by her husband, Gerald, two sons; Bill (Stacey) Peters of Conrad, Shawn (Jamie) Peters of Pella, IA, three grandsons; Riley, Caden, Bodie, two step grandchildren; Jessica, Shane, three step great grandchildren; Austin, Izaiah, Elliott. A brother, Larry (Barb) Wood of Texas, one niece, and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her birth mother, Gertrude Ottlie Wood, her mother that helped raise her, Agnes Ottlie Wood, and her step mother, Claire Powell Wood.
