Mildred C. Bryngelson, 101
Mildred Cleone Bryngelson, 101, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in rural Leon, IA, on January 23, 1918, to Ralph and Lelah M. (Ryan) Ridgway. She lost her mother at age 2; at age 4, she gained her second mother when her father married Georgia Garber. Mildred graduated from Leon High School and was a member of the Brethren Church. She later came to Marshalltown and was employed at the Iowa Veterans Home. Mildred attended Thompson’s Beauty School in Des Moines and worked at Brintnall’s Beauty Shop in Marshalltown. She married Clifford Bryngelson in August 1941. They lived in California and Kansas during WWII, as he was employed in aircraft work.
They returned to Marshalltown in 1946. Mildred later worked at the Iowa Veterans Home for 17 years before retiring in 1983. She most recently enjoyed living at Glenwood Place Retirement Community. Mildred was a member of the First Baptist Church, ABWM, the Senior Citizens Center, the Red Hat Ladies and the Spinning Wheel Chapter of the DAR.
Surviving Mildred are her children: Dwayne (Connie), of Idaho Falls, ID, Kenneth (Renee), of Marshalltown, Donna (Ernest) Hagan, of Montgomery, TX, and Richard (Lynn), of Marshalltown; ten grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, sister and one grandchild.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2019, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown.
