Dorothy Osgood, 83

Dorothy Osgood, 83, of Marshalltown, passed away at home under the care of Iowa River Hospice Home with her family at her side.

A visitation will be held at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 17 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April18 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Harlan Nuss officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials in Dorothy’s name be made to the American Lymphoma and Leukemia Society. Dorothy Jean Pierce was born on November 03, 1935, in Porter, Oklahoma, to parents James and Mildred (Beasley) Pierce. She attended school in Chandler Arizona and graduated from Chandler High School. On March 19, 1955, she was united in marriage to John Osgood in Tempe, Arizona. She held an array of jobs and worked as a bookkeeper for Valley National Bank in Chandler, Arizona. After moving to Marshalltown, she worked at the News Depot and Annette’s Hallmark as a sales associate for over 20 years. She worked for a period of time at Fisher Elementary School in the cafeteria. Dorothy was a member of the American Baptist Women. In her free time, she was a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed quilting and reading.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband John Osgood; children: Virginia (Chuck) Cagley, Deborah (Roger) Lakey, Christine (Mike) Jones; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother David Pierce and many other family members who will be greatly missed.

In death, she rejoins her parents James and Mildred Pierce; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Bill Greer and sister-in- law Janice Pierce.
