Funeral services for Gene Hilleman, 87, of Melbourne, were held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Pastor Rick Schill officiated the service. Special music was performed by Gwyneth Heston and Jan Randall. Pallbearers were Mark Allen, Nicole Snyder, Craig Snyder, Mike Fitz, Benjamin Fitz, and Aaron Fitz. Honorary pallbearers were Glen Taylor and Ron Brown. He was laid to rest in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Groups in attendance included Telephone Pioneers, Iowa River Hospice, and Farm Bureau. Mitchell Family Funeral Home was entrusted with the care of Gene and his family.
