Barbara was brought into this world on September 20, 1936, in Marietta, Iowa. She was the daughter of MayBelle (Mettlin) Hensley and Lawrence “Cap” Anson. She attended Marshalltown High School, was a baton majorette and graduated in 1954. In 1953, Barbara married Clifford Zink, the two were blessed with five children. They later divorced and in 1975 she married Dale McCubbin. The two owned and operated McCubbin Seed Farm for many years. Barbara was widowed and later enjoyed owning and operating semi-trucks with longtime friend Merle Wallen. They also proudly drove for L.J. Leonard, R.J. Warnell Trucking and Hawkeye Woodshavings.

She had fond memories of working at Marshall Ice Cream, Kim’s Drive Inn, Lynk Bros & Baird (sorting corn), Conrad Country Club (Manager) and Clifton’s Grocery Store in Conrad, as well as Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown.

She enjoyed and developed a forever friendship and love with those she worked with through the years, as well as each and every friend she met along the way. There was no such thing as a stranger in Barbara’s world.

She had a love for music that was unbridled. Country western music was her favorite. She developed personal and lasting relationships, even sharing Holidays in the Homes of Barbara Mandrell & families. She enjoyed an ongoing friendship with Bill Anderson and his Group, and shared an afternoon of lemonade and cookies in the home of Johnny Cash’s parents.

She loved traveling, photography, cake decorating, making candy, Nascar, sports of all kinds, dancing the jitterbug and playing cards. Her love and caring for her Pomeranians ran deep and goes without saying.

She was proud that her Anson family had connection to land that the Marshall County Courthouse now sits on and to be a friend of Jean Seberg and her family.

She loved to attend her children and grandchildren’s activities and events. Her love and pride for her family and friends knew no bounds. Barbara was a one of a kind soul that can never be duplicated.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dale (Becky) Zink, of Conrad, Paula Price, of Marshalltown, Marlys (Mike) Goudie, of Bennington, Nebraska, Denise Zink, of Garwin and Deanna Corona, of LaVista, Nebraska; grandchildren: Brittney (Jared) Gould, Ashley (Hayden) Boeke, Perin (Chris) Donaldson, Ryan Hupfeld, Michelle (Josiah) Conner, David Goudie, Pete Goudie, Amanda (Jose) Lemus and Noah Corona; great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Clara Gould, Berkley and Holden Boeke, Samara and Adonai Conner, Michael, Danielle and Maxwell Goudie, Alex Goudie, Adriana and Ari Lemus; a brother, Larry (Lena) Anson; nephews, Mike (Mardi) and Chad (Tasha) Anson, three great nephews, as well as, longtime friend, Merle Wallen.
