Janis Anson Shewalter, 94
Janis Anson Shewalter passed away on May 2, 2019. She was born on December 13, 1924, in Marietta, Marshall County, Iowa, to Adeline & Earl Anson. She married her high school sweetheart Clair Shewalter and was the loving mother to Michael, Kristy, Karen, Andrea, Linn and Tim. The family moved to Lantana, Florida in 1969.
Janis wrote and illustrated stories of Down-y Gos and Mary Ann for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She made elaborate books documenting her and Clair’s families going back generations. She was also very interested in the history of Marietta, the community where she was born. She hosted many large family gatherings in her home by the lake. As an accomplished seamstress, during her retirement she made quilts that she referred to as “measle” blankets for all the grandchildren and her nieces & nephews.
Her life is celebrated by children: Karen, Andrea, Linn & Tim; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great children, her beloved nieces and nephews, sister, Nancy Stone & brother, Robert Anson.
Her family is grateful for the love and support during the last 2 years especially her caregivers and the Sunshine Team from TrustBridge Hospice.
