Marie Gail Ray, 53

Marie Gail Ray, 53, of Osceola, Iowa, former resident of Marshalltown, Iowa, died surrounded by family on May 17th, 2019, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, after complications from pneumonia.

Marie was born on March 19th, 1966, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Jack and Anna Ray (Pelcman). She graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1985. After receiving training as a nurse, she worked as a CNA at various nursing homes around the Marshalltown area, including the Iowa Veterans Home and Villa Del Sol. She was an active member at Faith Fellowship Evangelical Free Church in Osceola, where she enjoyed taking her granddaughter Elena for Wednesday bible study.

Marie enjoyed attending concerts and sporting events, hiking, fishing, listening to rock music and spending time with her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, stepmother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Anna Ray as well as her cat Snowball.

Marie is survived by her partner of 15 years, Wade Niebur, of Osceola, IA; her children: Linsey Kapayou, of Osceola, IA, Derrick Kapayou, of Ames, IA, and Bradley Ray; stepdaughter Ragan (Rudy) Navarrete, of Sioux Falls, SD; 3 grandchildren: Evan Delgado, Elena Delgado and Ember Kapayou; 3 brothers, Wayne Ray, of Marshalltown, IA, Joe (Barbara) Ray, of Riverton, UT and Perry (Donna) Ray, of Red Oak, IA; in-laws Don and Karen Niebur, of Albia, IA and numerous friends.

The family would like to express our thanks to the staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Iowa Methodist Hospital for their wonderful help in this difficult time.

A Celebration Of her Life will be held at the Faith Fellowship Evangelical Free Church, Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 10:00 am with Pastor Sheldon Lorenson officiating.
