A celebration of life will be held for Rose Marie on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 5:00 to7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial for Rose Marie will be held at a later date. Memorials in Rose Marie’s name may be directed to the family for a designation at a later date. Rose Marie Hilleman was born on September 12, 1922 in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents Conrad and Edna (Reimer) Hilleman. She grew up and attended school within the Marshalltown Community School District. After graduation Rose Marie continued her education and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Drake University in Des Moines. She taught first grade at Woodbury, Williams, and Glick elementary schools for over 30 years. In 1941 Rose Marie was united in marriage to her husband Leslie Arthur Jr. in Albany, Missouri. They were blessed with two children Robert and Mary Sue. The two were longtime residents of Marshalltown and lived in their home for 75 years.

In her free time, she enjoyed to be outside working in the yard or doing gardening. She also enjoyed fishing, boating, shelling on Sanibel Island and holidays with her family. She was always active and would often get up in the morning to ask her kids, “what are we going to do today?” She was active in the Marshalltown community having memberships in organizations such as the American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, and the NEA.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Robert (Cathy) Arthur and Mary Sue Edwards; grandchildren Lonni (Phil) Waltermire, Holli (Todd) Lillibridge, and Jamie Edwards; great-grandchildren Celci Waltermire, Lesli Waltermire, Dalton Lillibridge, Tatum Lillibridge.

In death, she rejoins her loving husband Leslie; parents Conrad and Edna Hilleman; and brother Clarence Hilleman.
