A visitation for Eugene will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29th at 10:30 a.m. with Father Don Czapla officiating also at the funeral home. Full military honors will be rendered at the graveside service being held at Riverside Cemetery following the memorial service. Gene was born May 28, 1927, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Jess and Loraine (McLaughlin) Robb. He attended school in the Marshalltown Community School district and graduated in the class of 1946. Gene enlisted in the Iowa National Guard. He later enlisted into the Army and served from 1950-1952. He was a member of the American Legion of Marshalltown. He was employed at Lennox Industries for 43 years. He had started in the mailroom and had advanced to the sales department upon his return from the Army. He was a member of the city council and served for three terms. He was first elected to the office in 1967. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He had married his wife Eleanor Bartholomew on May 27, 1951 and they were the proud parents of six children.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Patricia Luethje, of Marshalltown, Nancy Zitzow (Steve Hagen), of Garwin, Sandra Robb, of Marshalltown, Philip Robb, of Nashville, Tennessee, Mary (Jeff Lippincott) Robb, of Marshalltown and Jennifer Robb, of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Chris (Sandra) Robb, Sarah (Clyde) Kennedy, Kimberly (Mike) Haley, Jill (Kenny) Ziemke, Matthew Robb, Joe (Lucy) Robb, Makenzie Robb and Jesse Hoeft; great-grandchildren: Emily, Hailey, Carter, Drake, Josie and Kayden; great-great grandchild, Eleanor (Ellie); sister, Audrey Robinson; sister-in- law, Mavis Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Eleanor of 64 years; parents, Jess and Loraine Robb; brother, John; sister, Kate and son-in-law, Rollie Luethje.
