Dorothy “Dot” Hinmon, 89

Dorothy “Dot” Hinmon, 89, of Marshalltown, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019, at Grandview Heights Nursing and Rehab in Marshalltown.

Per Dorothy’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded and a private family graveside service will be held. Memorials in Dorothy’s name may be directed to the Animal Rescue League. Dorothy was born March 12, 1930, in Mount Vernon, Missouri, to Edna (Hill) and John Mulvihill. She grew up in the Oskaloosa area and she graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1947. Following graduation, Dorothy married Bobby Keith Hinmon on October 7, 1951. They continued to live in Oskaloosa for several years, then moved to Marshalltown.

Dorothy was a stay-at-home mom for most of her life. She was employed at the telephone company and farm implement store in Oskaloosa following graduation and at Davis Paint and Farm & Home Supply in Marshalltown. Dorothy enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, playing bridge, mushroom hunting, fishing and watching her beloved St. Louis Cardinals baseball team.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Michael and James (Linda), of Marshalltown; grandchildren: Carrie (Joe) Richards, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, Wyatt (Angie) Manship, of Marshalltown, Breanna (Dan Dehrkoop) Hinmon, of Ottumwa, and Ryan Hinmon, of Marshalltown; great grandchildren: Tori, Bailee, Emma, Lilly and Triston Richards, of Mechanicsville Maryland, Kohl and Paige Manship, of Marshalltown, and Makenna Dehrkoop, of Ottumwa.

Dorothy was proceeded in death by her husband Bob, in 2013; a son Patrick John Hinmon in 2009; brother John Francis Mulvihill and an infant brother.
