Ron graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1957 and went to Iowa State University for one year. Shortly thereafter, he embarked on a 30-year career in the U.S. Navy, before returning to Seattle with his wife Tomoko.

Preceding Ron in death were his wife Tomoko and his parents Mary L. and C. N. Atwood. He is survived by one sister, Pam Atwood, of Scottsdale, Arizona and two brothers, Denny Atwood, of Roseburg, Oregon and Doug Atwood, of Jensen Beach, Florida.

For Ron’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and his ashes will be spread out to sea by the U. S. Navy.
