Stephen Wayne Brown was born on November 21, 1948 in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents Wayne and Jerry (Sutherland) Brown. He grew up attending school in the Marshalltown Community School District and graduated from Marshalltown High School in the class of 1967. After high school Stephen continued his education and went on to obtain an Associates degree from Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. When the time came Stephen enlisted in the United States Army. On June 6, 1971 he was united in marriage to his wife Jennifer (Wignall) Brown at the First United Brethren Church in Marshalltown. The two lived in a variety of towns and states before coming back and replanting their roots in Marshalltown. The two were also proud parents of two children Melanie and Amy. In his free time, you might find him watching NASCAR races, listening to music, attending car shows, and not really sitting still.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Jennifer; their children Melanie Brown (Caryn Jakielski) of Joliet, Illinois and Amy M. Gandy (Beka Dilley) of Fort Dodge; siblings Candace (Darrell) Baker of Marshalltown and Cristie Brown (Phillip Loersch) of Chandler, Arizona; as well as several nieces.

In death, Stephen rejoins his parents Wayne and Jerry; nephew Wade Baker; and Brother-in-law Jim Gillibrand.
