Helen Degner

Helen may have been small of stature, but she was big in personality! Helen Degner was one of the greatest artists to live in central Iowa, having sold her artwork all over the world. She lifted her last brush and stitched her last wall hanging on August 23, 2019. Her creative mind was always active, creating lists of future projects she just had to get done. Her Maple Grove Studio was a wonder; for family, friends and other artists. She always said she was the luckiest woman alive to be able to create her art in a beautiful home (that she designed) and fully supported by her farmer husband, Billy. Her greatest masterpieces, of course, were her three children, JoAnn (married to Alan Kouba), Janet (married to Walter Canavese) and Tom (married to Cindy Degner). Each of her masterpieces will claim to be her absolute favorite, but there was never ever a question that each masterpiece felt loved and respected for their own individuality. Her mini masterpieces include 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren living throughout the USA and Canada. Her masterpieces will honor her life in celebration at the Mitchell Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Helen will paint her last sunset at Green Mountain Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Iowa River Hospice.

Starting at $4.38/week.
