James “Jim” Snyder, 69

James “Jim” Snyder, 69, of Marshalltown passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City on August 26, 2019.

A funeral mass will be held for Jim at St. Francis of Assisi Parish-Saint Mary Church at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 29. A Visitation will be held one hour before the beginning of services. James Ray Snyder was born on June 2, 1950, to parents James and RLou (Dixon) Snyder in Marshalltown, Iowa. He grew up in the Tama-Toledo area and attended school in the South Tama School District. He graduated high school in the class of 1968. He then furthered his education at Westmar University in Le Mars, Iowa and then completed his associate’s degree at Marshalltown Community College. On February 16, 1974 he was united to marriage to Jamie Brezina at Saint Henry Catholic Church in Marshalltown.

James worked at Lennox as an assembler for their heating units for 38 years before he was no longer able to continue working. In his free time, he enjoyed amateur radio, the Kansas City Chiefs, Royals, watching basketball especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and biking up until he was no longer able. He enjoyed his trips to Arizona and his annual trips to Nashville, TN for the Fanfare festival with his wife. He would often wait in long lines just to get an autograph from a specific artist for his loving wife. The two would listen to country music and Christian music together as well as attend concerts. They also held season tickets for the Des Moines Civic Center for plays. He loved watching movies and spending time with his wife, nieces, and nephews.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Jamie; parents James and RLou Snyder; nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Coridan) McGinley, Danial (Jessica) Kilker, Angela (James) Christensen, Jamey (Stephanie) Kilker, Corey Kilker, Jeanie Hall, Nathan Snyder, Dillon Snyder; great nieces-nephews: Clark McGinley, Hope and Oliver Kilker, Nile, Grace, Julian and Lincoln Christensen, Jamison and Jordyn Kilker and Hunter, Sirenity and Braydon Merksick; siblings: John (Kelly) Snyder, Joni Hall and Mary Ellen Snyder; brother-in-law David (Leanne) Kilkner.

In death, Jim rejoins his maternal and paternal grandparents; numerous aunts and uncles; nephew Ryan Hall; mother and father-in-law James and Darlene Brezina and sister-in-law Bonnie Kilker.
