Mavis was born April 24, 1931, to Harry and Bertha (Scott) Eddy in Rhodes, IA. She graduated from Rhodes High School. On October 1, 1950, Mavis was united in marriage to Lawnie E. Brown at the Rhodes United Methodist Church. Together they had four children, Teresa, Gwen, Susie and Ron. Mavis worked as a file clerk at Fisher’s in Marshalltown for 24 years before retirement. After retirement, she volunteered at Salvation Army in Marshalltown for several years. Mavis was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school with puppet ministry until it closed and then became a member of First United Methodist Church of Marshalltown. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening in her flower garden, crafts and spending time with family. You would always find Mavis smiling, positive and ready for a new adventure with her family and friends.

Mavis will be missed by her children: Teresa (Herb) Arney, of Albion, IA, Gwen Moats, of Grundy Center, IA, Susie (Martin) Herold, of State Center, IA, and Ron (Laura) Brown, of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a brother, Allan (Carol) Eddy, of LeGrand, IA; a sister, Leola (Larry) Wright, of Ackley, IA; and four sisters-in-law: Lola Ruby, of Lincoln, NE, Lucille Buffington, of Laurel, IA, Alice Vodochodsky, of Merritt Island, FL, and Nancy Robinson, of Marshalltown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawnie and her siblings, Glenn Eddy, Patty Menter and Leonard Eddy.
