Danette Ina Whitebreast, 52, of Tama, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A Traditional Graveside Service will be held Sunday, September 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement with Larry Lasley Sr. as speaker. A Traditional Wake will be held Saturday evening at the Bear Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement.
Survivors include her children, Sheena Whitebreast, Byron Wanatee (Kigidi) and Monroe Wanatee all of Tama; 5 grandchildren, her mother, Janet Whitebreast of Tama; her father, Dean (Hattie) Whitebreast of Montour; three sisters, Dena Whitebreast of Tama, Deanna Westphal of Ocala, FL, and Denise Ahrens of Spring Valley, MN; two brothers, Arlan of Tama and Damon Whitebreast of Montour; and numerous nieces and nephews.
